Tightly focused and still a touch closed, with roasted alder and juniper notes holding the core of crushed plum and raspberry fruit flavors in check for now. There's a lovely bolt of iron through the finish, along with dried anise and fruitcake tones, while energetic acidity adds length and class to the overall feel. Should settle in nicely with a touch more cellaring, as there's tons of fruit in reserve here. A beauty. Best from 2018 through 2035. 45 cases imported.
The 2012 Hermitage Ex Voto, whose fate is still a little unknown as it might be declassified into the straight Hermitage, shows the more forward, charming nature of the vintage with its sweet bouquet of cassis, black raspberries, Liquorice and vanilla bean. Big, rich, full-bodied and sexy with ripe tannin, it will be approachable in its youth and have two to three decades of longevity.
Deep dark ruby colour with mauve tints. Nose of black fruits, leather, liquorice, coffee flavour and oriental spices. Powerful attack with richness and an important tannic structure. This wine expression fully the terroir trough its finesse and the strength of its tannins.
