There's pleasantly coiled energy here, with dark currant, raspberry and blackberry fruit held back for now by lots of bramble and singed juniper notes. Dark anise, warm fruitcake and anise details underscore the finish. Needs a touch of cellaring to round into form. Best from 2017 through 2023. 400 cases made.
While I wasn’t able to taste any 2014 reds, both of the 2013s showed beautifully. The 2013 Saint Joseph offers lots of pepper, cured meats, olive and dark fruits in a medium to full-bodied, impressively concentrated, broad and expansive feel on the palate. It’s not a blockbuster, but makes the most of the vintage.
Quite young Bio/Natural wine movement. Well made though , a bit of a sauvage, animal feel good ripe fruit a bit grippy on the tannin. Tries to become different from the rest but not sure it gets somewhere better~
