This is structured and strong for a 2013 with white truffle and bright blueberry character. Full-bodied with firm and silky tannins. Bright finish. Better in 2020.
92–94. Barrel Sample. This is a bold, ripe, fruity wine, perfumed with fruit that's already attractive. The tannins are dry, but balanced with the fruit. A good choice for medium-term aging.
This has a showy personality, with beautifully aromatic raspberry, blueberry and plum flavors that drape wonderfully over the velvety structure. Alluring black tea and warm plum cake notes add nuance on the finish. This has gained steadily since the barrel tasting. Drink now through 2023. 3,100 cases made.
The 2013 Pavie-Macquin has a light but detailed and pure redcurrant and cranberry-scented bouquet, suggestions of rose petal developing with aeration. The sample tasted at the property was showing a little more precision than others I have encountered. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, edgy tannin, a fine bead of acidity, a little brittle in texture but with tension on the smooth and refreshing finish. This is a worthy addition to the Right Bank 2013s and it should give a dozen years of pleasure. It deserves a round of applause for overcoming such a difficult growing season.
Impressive and enticing purity of fruit from the first sniff to the gradual fade. Finely ground tannins and just the right injection of acidity. The complexity is limited, but the concentration allows for some good development over the next few years - this is one 2013 that is really worth keeping. Richard Hemming MW
An impressive array of ripe, red fruits in this vintage where maturity was an issue for many. The texture is fine and silky with flavours that are detailed and intense. Fresh, vibrant and elegant. A real success in this vintage. By jeannie cho lee in 2014
