The 2014 Patache d'Aux has an earthy bouquet with smoke and blackberry, a little disjointed at first but gaining harmony in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannin. This is masculine, classic in style with an attractive cedar and tobacco infused finish, completing a Médoc Cru Bourgeois that is well worth seeking out. Tasted September 2016.
Slightly taut, with lightly dried cherry and red currant notes underscored by fine chalky tannins and a backdrop of wet stones on the finish. Drink now through 2018. 25,000 cases made.
