Bright and vivid with green olive, berry and plum character. Hints of wet earth. Full body, yet tight and reserved. Ultra-fine tannins. Excellent wine for the vintage. Better in 2019.
90–92. Barrel Sample. Intense black-currant acidity and dry tannins dominate this wine. It's juicy, fruity and ripe, without a huge, overwhelming structure.
Lightly singed balsam and black tea notes give this a perfumy feel, with supple cherry preserves and blackberry sauce flavors filling out the core. This fills out slowly with air in the glass, but stays very elegant and silky overall. Approachable now, but should benefit from age. Drink now through 2023. 3,000 cases made.
The grand vin, the 2013 La Conseillante, is a delicious, supple wine displaying notes of violets, incense, licorice, black cherries and raspberries. Well-made and medium-bodied, but neither as deep nor concentrated as the 2009 and 2010, its soft, seductive style argue well for drinking over the next decade.
Bright cherry. Fragrant, sweet fruited, almost a touch floral. Elegant, charming and light, all in harmony. Unusually for this vintage, this is scented on the mid palate and has better persistence than most. Light, gentle aftertaste, the tannins on the delicate side. Well done! Julia Harding MW
Soft, approachable La Conseillante with plums and ripe dark berry fruits. This year, there was very little pumping over - being gentle was key. Less tannins in the grapes this year so lighter extraction than normal was used at La Conseillante creating a wine with freshness and balance. Compared with other Pomerols, this is denser and richer on the mid palate - one of the stars of the vintage. This vintage has 82% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. 60% new oak this year. by jeannie cho lee 2014
